Our History
Chinese American Citizens Alliance is a non-profit organization founded by a group of young patriotic American born
men of Chinese ancestry who were denied equal rights as American citizens. The
Alliance was
incorporated in California in 1895 and was originally known
as the Native Sons of the Golden State (NSGS). In 1912, it evolved into a national
and statewide organization. The organization was renamed the Chinese American
Citizens Alliance (“C.A.C.A.” or the “Alliance”)
in 1915. It is one of the oldest civil rights organizations in the United States and the oldest civil rights organization
within the Asian communities
The Alliance was founded for mutual benefit, to accelerate
