Over a hundred years has passed since a group of young Chinese American men came together to form a fraternal order with a goal to combat the anti-Chinese sentiment while believing in the importance of their American birth and their role in shaping the future. Their vision and dream have helped to shape the San Francisco Lodge of the Chinese American Citizens Alliance into the great organization that it is today.
San Francisco Lodge looks back on over a century of service and leadership to the Chinese American community. Throughout history, we have been involved in efforts to fight against every attempt to discriminate against and segregate citizens of Chinese ancestry.
As one of the oldest civil rights organizations, San Francisco Lodge has continued to give voice and visibility to support initiatives affecting the Asian American community and to provide guidance and leadership. Some highlights of our recent activities include: participation at the United States Immigration of Citizenship Stakeholder’s meeting which included discussion on the works of the ICS agencies policies and future priorities and attendance at the Human Rights Commission meeting in Chinatown to address racial violence.
More recently, we had the opportunity to honor the Northern California Chinese American veterans who served in World War II with the Chinese American WWII Congressional Gold Medal. old Medal recognizing their service and sacrifices to the country. View presentation videos on YouTube.
Our educational and leadership scholarship program continues to assist students to achieve their dream of obtaining a higher education and to develop a sense of community service and leadership skill. In the spirit of service and compassion, our annual Senior program is eagerly anticipated by the low income seniors in the Chinese American community.
